WINNIPEG, April 18, 2001 - The Manitoba Securities Commission will be offering free investment information sessions in Winnipeg during Investor Education Week beginning April 23.
For the second year in a row, the Commission is teaming up with industry professionals to offer free presentation sessions to the public. Ainsley Cunningham, Education and Information Coordinator with the Commission says, "One of the Commission's mandates is to provide investor protection. Through educational opportunities such as this, we are providing the public with information that will allow them to make informed decisions. By becoming informed we are ultimately taking necessary steps towards protecting our financial future."
The sessions will be held at the Hotel Fort Garry at 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM on April 23 and 24. In addition to the evening sessions, there will be a "Lunch and Learn" panel discussion lead by the Investment Dealers Association at the Winnipeg Public Library between 12:00 - 1:00 PM on April 24. Attendees are invited to bring their lunch as the panel discusses building wealth, pension and options and choosing and maximizing the benefits of a financial advisor.
